Peavey Encore 65

Post by geoff douglas »

Hi Guys, i have just finished repairing a friends Peavey Encore 65 amp, circa 1984. I have to say this thing sounds unreal. The design of the preamp section is very interesting to say the least. It provides the ability to effectively have an infinite amount tone settings depending on the position of the pre, pump and post control knobs as well as some switch pull options to further change the tone. The whole valve chain is running quite high plate voltages the result being this thing simply barks like nothing i have heard before, It truly has surprised me.
If anyone has issues with one of these i would be happy to help with the diagnosis of the problem whilst it is still fresh in my mind.
As you might have read i have an issue with a curved neck on an sc-3 but that has been put on hold for a few more weeks yet, my move is almost finished now so i will let you all know how i go with it in the following month. Off topic i have, after a 5 year wait, just received my live steam locomotive, it was built by an 80 year old friend, not a bad effort i might say for a guy that old. A few pictures are here if anybody likes steam trains but i haven't taken any pictures of the loco tender as yet, its almost as long as the loco itself.
