NGD: USA S-500

Post by art »

I'm officially a member of the club now, my USA S-500 arrived yesterday! I had intended to prove receipt with some photos, but, you know, I spent the evening playing guitar.

Overall, the guitar is an amazing combination of engineering, art, and craft, the df vibrato is a good example of this. I really love the pickups, too, lots of detail, whether clean or dirty.

I'll see if I can't get some photos posted tonight.

Cheers,
A

How about a crappy cell phone photo? Here's CLF073208, freshly unpacked and still covered in virgin case fuzz,

Image

Sonic blue on alder, vintage tint satin finish on a standard maple neck, maple fb, std frets, mint pickguard, and white covers and knobs.

I've noticed in photos of some other G&Ls and now on this guitar, a small dimple on the back of the headstock near the sixth string tuner. What is that?

Anyway, it's an awesome guitar. When I think about what it sounds like, how it feels to play, what it looks like, etc, I get an overwhelming urge to play ... and then 3 hours later, the evening is gone! :)

See this post in our G&L Knowledgebase: what is the little dot on the back of g&l headstocks?

Hope this helps.

congrats! that is a great color choice. I went with a sonic blue legacy. I remember the virgin case fuzz well.

Thanks everyone! I'm really pleased with my choices, and the way it all worked out. I wouldn't change a thing about it!

Now, about that next G&L (ASAT Special?, '80s SC-2?) ...
