This may sound like a stupid question...but how do I know if the ASAT Classic that I bought used is a Classic Custom or just a plain oldClassic?
The body date is July 23, 2009.
Thanks!

Re: ASAT Classic Custom????
Jeff,
The ASAT Classic Custom was released twice, and as slightly different instruments.
The first incarnation was built between 1996 and 1997:

This model has a alder body, ash top, top binding, and standard 2 ASAT Classic MFD pickups.
The second incarnation was built between 2002 and 2013 , at which time this model was replaced by the ASAT Classic Bluesboy 90:

This model has an ash body (semi-hollow was an option), a standard ASAT Classic MFD bridge pickup combined with a wide-bobbin (ASAT Special) MFD neck pickup. The height screws on the neck pickup at times have been hidden by the pickguard, at times were accessible as in the one above.
From the year you state for your guitar, I expect it to be the latter.
Hope this helps,
- Jos

What kind of pickup is in the neck position? Photos would help.

Re: ASAT Classic Custom????
Thanks guys...very helpful!
The neck pickup is the MFD soapbar style, so I believe its a Classic Custom
Can't put a pic up, but its black with the natural wood binding and white pick guard and rosewood fingerboard

It does not exist without photos.

Also, do add it to your G&L Registry, too.
