Trolling the Bay again....

Post by zapcosongs »

.... and came upon this early Legacy.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-G-L-Leg ... 1366808191

The only reason I'm checking in with this is because of the (rare) color and the fact that it just slays me at this moment in time. Anybody else like it? Would it make you happy to be able to buy a G&L guitar or bass in this color??? Maybe I'm just crazy. Or not...???? - ed

Howdy Ed,

I'm not a Legacy guy but IMHO this is a pretty BIN for a three bolt. The color is an added bonus, even if it is not "rare".

Happy hunting for someone. :)

Hey Sam. Glad you checked in this evening.

Yeah, I don't know how rare this color actually is. I only know that I haven't seen it a lot, and that it appeals to me much right now.

And you are correct, of course. The price seems good given the fact that this guitar has obviously been much enjoyed. There's usually a good reason.... - ed

I like Graphite Metallic but those ebay pictures look greenish metallic. I think it is a great color if you want a non-transparent finish. With those pickup covers I would swap the white for a parchment pickguard though. You could also swap the cream pickup covers for white but the first option would be my preference because of the rosewood neck. You could also swap everything and go with black like this. I like the black the most.

I could get used to the color, I bet it looks nice with a lake reflecting in the background...do we know anyone like that :eh: ?
I'm surprised you haven't bought it. You could find a black crinkle backplate online , it has the bi-cut neck, locking tuners,micro-tilt, crinkle-ly black triangle with numbers ... 8-) .

I might expect to put in some pickups of choice as an added expense , but that's just me . I suspect the middle pickup isn't working because of a solder joint
at the 5 way switch .
If he had free shipping it would be harder to say no.

Too bad about the dings on this one, but it might mean the reserve is low.

Ed,

Hmmm. Nice color and price. If I wasn't as poor as h-e double hockey sticks (see how I did that) I would be all over that. Plus I really need another guitar. Nice Legacy.

Are you CERTAIN you don't need another guitar, kc?

Actually, I know you already have a Legacy that you love. As do I.

The color is likely Sparkle Black. Here's the color chart from the 1996-97 G&L Catalog:

I see that the seller pulled the Ad:
This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing.

The listing is back up, he has a couple other G&L's listed also.
I contacted the seller when his first listing was duped by a zero feedback fraudulent seller.
I mentioned he might want to check out this thread .
