Mahogany Legay Deluxe,compared to alder

Post by diddly »

I might have a chance of picking up a legacy deluxe with a mahogany body/maple top, maple neck and ebony board. How do these sound compared to the alder bodies? Its HSS.I do know Mahogany is warmer than alder and has a bit more mid range.Does it still have the clear, chimey cleans or does the mahogany make it a lot darker?Id imagine with the single coils and maple neck/top it would brighten things up compared to a mahogany neck etc. Also an ebony is bright like a maple board according to the G&L site.Would it be a nice balance and smooth out the overall tone and add some mids or do you reckon it will lose a lot of sparkle? Here is a vid of a strat with a moahogany body https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_ZE_3CP0YU It doesnt sound to dark. Here is a legacy deluxe with mahogany but it seems very warm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJLsrRMt8cY a little too warm for me now tbh.Has anyone a regualr alder legacy and a mahognay deluxe who could share some info?Cheers
