I'm going to be retired next week, so my colleagues gave me a travel guitar as a good bye present:

Since I have absolutely no use for a travel guitar and a lot of free time on my hands I was thinking to have it converted into a lap steel to learn to play decent slide guitar. what kind of pickup and output jack would you guys recommend me? I was thinking of buying the hardware myself and have a qualified guitar tech install it on the guitar. Thanks for your help.

Re: Converting a travel guitar into an electric lap steel
Hi,
I would suggest not doing this. It does not look like it can handle the stress of regular strings, never mind the stress of raising the nut.

Thanks Ed, the action is already relatively high, strings are D'Addario 10 - 47, so I don't think I'd have to change much in the action...
