G&L Limited Edition Tribute Legacy middle pickup not working

Post by jonah dex »

Hello
I just received a 2016 model (SSS)in Olympic white from MF and the middle pick up is not working.I could send it back, but it was a good deal as a blemished model, so I would rather keep it if an easy fix. I looked for a wiring diagram on here and G&L site but can't seem to find the correct one. I don't see anything obviously wrong with the wiring, but could use some help figuring out the problem.I thought maybe a wire became detached, but this doesn't seem to be the case. If anyone can point me in the direction of a photo of a recent Tribute Legacy wiring photo it would be greatly appreciated. I'm hoping it is just wired incorrectly.
Not sure how to post a photo here of the current wiring set up.

Did you try checking the resistance? Maybe it is an open coil.

Thanks.
Just did. That seems to be the problem. Neck and bridge are 5.96 and 5.93. Middle is only .233

According to Musician's Friend policy on instruments sold as Blemished :
Blemished
This gear was returned in great condition, with only minor signs of use, such as slight scuffs or pick marks. It looks and plays like new and may be considered an equivalent to display units found in retail stores.
Includes full manufacturer's warranty
Includes Free 2-Year Warranty on guitars and basses
Includes 45-Day No Hassle Returns
Why not use their policy to get the middle pickup replaced? Or if you are so inclined to do the replacement yourself,
ask if they will send you a replacement Tribute middle pickup and return the defective one?

Regarding posting photos, see: Welcome! Read This First and look for the link to the Tutorial on posting photos.

Hope this helps.

I tried resoldering the pickup. Finally worked on my 4th try. MF gave me a further $25 refund. So $250 total for a basically new Legacy.

Good to hear that you were able to fix this and also get some refund from MF.

We would love to see your guitar, so please post a NGD post with photos in the G&LDP forum.
