Hello, GBL forum members and moderator(s).
Way cool that this forum exists
I am a G&L guitar fan since acquiring a used Tribute S-500 for a song in 2015 that needed new pots and strings After replacing the pots, I found that I favored the MIK S-500 over my '96 USA Fender Stratocaster Plus and decided to replace the Tribute with it's USA equivalent.
But before acquiring the 2015 S-500 just last week I managed to purchase a '97 USA Legacy late 2015 and a 2012 Classic ASAT 3 mid-2016.
I really like my G&L guitar family however, I have a particular, perceived problem with the newly acquired, like new 2016 USA S-500 that I'll be addressing with a post in the Knowledgebase after not having found any posts related to the DF tremolo brass insert heights being offset from one-another by 2mm that's interfering with lowering the DF tremolo bridge
About me I'm an old electrical engineer, working in the semiconductor industry, with longstanding amateur guitar player aspirations. Discovering G&L has only increased my interest in improving my playing.
My music background consists of having taught myself a handful of classic rock/jazz chords and guitar licks in high school (class of '83) only to end-up having to sell my first "real" guitar, a '76 Gibson Marauder, to get thru college; though I still have my very relic'd '65 Harmony H1B
Over the many years (decades), I'd occasionally beat on my Harmony until 2014 when I decided to take my guitar playing more seriously after discovering Scott Grove on Youtube It was a SG guitar review that led me to discover G&L guitars after having already purchased USA Fender Stratocasters and Telecasters coupled to some basic pedals and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe The Fender guitars have since been sold and replaced with my current G&L stable plugged into a Line 6 HD500X and home studio rig which brings me to this awesome forum to check-out fellow G&L enthusiasts
The only other thing worth mention is being married to a real jazz singer-pianist which is very humbling to say the least
I look forward to meeting others on this forum and learning more about G&L guitars.
Best regards,
Michael

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe. - Frank Zappa

Hi there and welcome tricksr4kids
You've come to the right place for G&L fans and many folks glad to share experiences and information. Sounds like you've definitely been bitten by the G&L bug, I along with most here suffer from the same addiction. (Not a bad thing at all )
I recall the Marauder back then, those were cool guitars. I'm not so much a DF trem guy but there is all kinds of setup info here and surely someone will give help.
Be sure to post your guitars in the registry, and jump in often. BTW post pics, we live G&L porn.

Hi Michael and welcome to the forum. Like Sam said, there is plenty of helpful folks here so breath easy, you will be able to find someone that can help with your S-500.
Is it the actual brass inserts or is it the posts themselves? I honestly don't know hoy they put those in the wood but if it's the posts they can just be screwed in or out to match one-another.
Is the block underneath snug and level or is it offset as well.
Did you buy it new from a dealer, perhaps it can be fixed under warranty.
Please post some detailed posts, I'd like to see what it looks like and anyone else that probably help you would ask for them too.
Good to have you on the forum, sounds like you have a nice little G&L family growing there. What part of the country are you in?
Tom

Thanks for the warm welcome Sam and Tom.
You are correct in people being helpful on this forum. Wow!
For example, I was taken back by Craig's help regarding my new S-500 situation. Here's the thread if interested:
http://www.guitarsbyleo.com/FORUM/viewt ... 13&t=14277
A special thanks to Craig for reaching out to G&L for me.
The brass insert coming loose must not be common; especially for a guitar just a couple years old. In response, I shot G&L repairs an email this morning, per instructions in the thread, and look forward to seeing how things develop.
Again, thank you for reaching out!
Regards,
Michael

Re: Greetings & Hello Icebreaker Intro :))
After reading a few posts, clearly this forum likes to see members' pics of their G&L family
In no particular order, here's my 2012 Vintage White ASAT Classic "S"
Next is my 1997 Clear Forest Green Legacy:
Pics of my recently purchased 2015 Cherry Burst S-500 coming as soon as I get it back from G&L for a little DFB brass insert work
Here's the 2015 Cherry Burst S-500 that received a new brass-insert for the DF Vibrato from G&L (Special thanks to Craig for helping arrange this) :
Clearly I need to update the previously posted photos of the Classic S and Legacy given the updates my photography rig has recevied
And since taking an interest in owning and playing a locking tremolo over the past few months, I've recently purchased an Invader to add to my G&L stable with pictures to follow
