Weird bubbling on neckplate?

Post by krugerj »

Hi all, I just got this Bluesboy this evening (I posted an NGD post previously), however I noticed something that is possibly troubling on the neckplate:

Has anybody run into this before? The bottom right has a bump that looks like an air bubble... it's troubling.

Thanks!

You are correct. That ain't right. New or used purchase? If new, contact the dealer. Otherwise, you can buy a new one From G&L.

I bought it used, the guitar is well over 10 years old. Thanks for the reply, is the problem only cosmetic? Because if so, I don't mind. Thanks

Pretty ASAT! I've always liked G&L's version of LPB.

It might be the camera angle, but it looks like at least one of the neck bolts has been replaced as well - the upper treble side screw is all chewed up and looks flat, as does the lower treble side screw, while both the bass side screws are domed. If these are replacement screws that could be why the plate is bent and bubbling (overtightend maybe?); it seems like you should be able to get factory replacements from G&L.

You can get a replacement neckplate with screws from the G&L On-Line store. Here's the link: G&L GUITAR NECK PLATE WITH 4 SCREWS.

Hope this helps.
