2016 G&L ASAT Special Limited USA

Post by glvourot »

I came across these on Gbase awhile ago. Himalayan Blue or Ruby red Asat special for an awesome price. Unless I missed it I was surprised these have not been mentioned on the GBL. Besides being a great deal I noticed that the ASAT logo is the same as my 86 Asat minus the " by Leo Fender ". They seem to be exclusive to Wolfe Guitars. They probably specified this for the special run but I think it is a great idea to go back to full time. They kept the old style for the SC-2 reissue and it really works for the ASAT.

I've seen that same blue Asat Special for the same price at Vision Guitars here, seems to be some kind of dealer special? It was really nice, loved the feel of the nitro satin neck.

Reason: Admin removed actual price because posting prices on new G&L instruments is not allowed.

I did not include a link because I was unsure that it would contravene the rule regarding prices on new G&L's. Either go to Gbase or the Wolf guitars website to see the guitars. The main point being that these guitars have the original font . I think its called "serif ".

There was a brief discussion of these back in October - G&L did a run of ASAT Specials with minimal options (OLS body, satin light tint neck finish), white plastic parts, rosewood fingerboards only and that original-style headstock decal at the special price and made them available to dealers. If you go back to this thread called "October 2016 ASAT Specials from the Factory":

http://www.guitarsbyleo.com/FORUM/viewt ... 36&t=13835

you'll see photos of several of them in Himalayan blue and in ruby red metallic. They went to several dealers, including Wolfe and Up Front Guitars.

G&L also did similar runs in bel air green and in 3-color sunburst (with maple fingerboard, black pickguard and pickup covers) for Musician's Friend, who also sold them at a discounted price until Christmas.

There are a handful of "non-special run" ASAT Specials in other colors (with other options) in the thread as well.

Those look like a great deal. I like the red ones a lot.
