SC-2 Potentiometers
I purchased an SC-2 that's a few years old. It was sold as used, but appears un-played. The pots are stiff and require real effort to turn. Not going to move them around with a sliding pinky. Anyone else experience this and have any advice?

seems like it's hit or miss ....... some feel stiff compared to other , even on the same guitar the volume be a little stiff and tone rotates easy or vice versa , I just got used to it and figured it would be better in case you accidentally bumped it

I didn't... easy rotate on mine... the only thing that is a little bit disappointing with that guitar is the toggle switch that feel really loose... it feels really cheap...

Stupid question, but are they bottomed out against the pick guard?

Pickguard ? What PG ? It's a new one, not a Leo era... i think... regarding the OP message...
Even on old ones, it's more like a control plate than a PG...

Correct. It's a current SC-2 so no pick guard. The knobs are the knurled chrome type and there is no rubbing anywhere. The pots are just really stiff to turn. It's not that big a deal I suppose, but I have never seen this issue on any other guitar I have owned.

Ironically , my SC 2 has the easiest pots to turn out of my 10 G&L's that are currently out of the case ..... seems to be a hit and miss to me

Pick guard - Schmickguard...you know what I mean.
There is stuff you can spray in them that would probably clean them right up.

Move em back and forth about 50 times see if they loosen up. If not, you can always take the Robben Ford approach and just hard wire them wide open - actually, he doesn't do that since the blue line album when he started to use the volume control quote artistically end of quote. Did someone say Robben Ford, I'm getting verklempt... "please, discuss amongst yourselves."
