New Legacy Headstock Logo - Nasty... and Disrespectful

Post by mojokorn »

Not to come in like a bull in China Shop, but OMG the new Legacy Logo on the headstock is soooo nasty. Not to mention putting the tagline "Guitars by Leo" on the guitars is incredibly disrespectful to George Fullerton. I understand the use of it as a cute name for the Forum, but on the actual guitars????? Shoot Dang!!!

I suspect others feel this way too, considering that the Legacy models with the simple G&L logo are being advertised as a feature on Reverb.

Heads up to the marketing guys at G&L, it's not too late to reverse this mistake.

Have not seen any new logo. Looked around a bit and couldn't find anything new. Can you post a pic of what you're talking about please.

The tagline "Guitars by Leo" is not new. This has been appearing on various versions of model decals since the 90's. In fact the simple G&L logos you are referring too are the newest. These are standard on painted and body match headstock and an option on natural headstocks. So I guess you can say the new are tasteful and respectful depending on your point of view.

I think as early as '87, (George Fullerton stepping back from his role at G&L had something to do with it).

I'm kicking around custom ordering a Legacy and found out they call it the simpler version the "Delete" logo.

Yes, the option is called Model Logo Delete. Then there are two choices: Black with silver outline or silver with black outline. If you visit the USA guitars page on the G&L website, you will find link for USA options.

The G&L Legacy first came out in 1992:
See this in our Gallery: 1993_Legacy_Ad.

I don't see that G&L was disrespectful of George at all.

Hopefully this information about some of G&L's history will help you.

What exactly is your objection here, other than George Fullerton's name missing?
