Was this a custom option as I see most #12 necks/boards have dot inlays

The fretboard inlays remove option is an "off-menu" option, see: Are there any "off menu" G&L options?.
Ask your local G&L Dealer for this option. Here are the current G&L U.S. specifications and options: March 1, 2016-present G&L U.S. Specifications and Options.
