Dual Fulcrum Vibrato and Effect on Tuning

Post by kdl6769 »

I love my Fallout, but one thing I wish it had was a vibrato arm. Is there any tradeoff or downside to installing the dual fulcrum? One of the many things I appreciate about the guitar is its tuning stability, and if the dual fulcrum would mess with that in a big way it would give me some pause.

Many thanks.

Keep the one you have and then buy one with the vibrato. Easy solution.

Two things are a big help with tuning stability...

- Nut Lube - silicon gel specially formulated for guitar nuts. You G string will get caught on your nut without nut lube - yes, I really just said that - and you can quote me :-)
- Locking tuners - the string won't stay put unless it's locked
- Wire wrap the Strings - Extra stability and insurance.

With that said, routing a Fallout is likely a massive undertaking. Yes, G&L sorely needs to offer it with a DF bridge. Until, then my suggestion is to find an SC-2 and give it a go. The MFDs are a hybrid between Single Coils and P-90 and the SC-2 has the DF bridge... all together super bad-@ss. IMO of course :D

The Fallout and SC-2 have the DFV bridge option, see: March 1, 2016-present G&L U.S. Specifications and Options.

Hope this helps.
