Stock Neck Profile for 2002 ASAT Classic

Post by skisquash »

What was the stock profile for a 2002 ASAT Classic?

Not sure if it was 12" radius and 1 5/8" width at the nut on the stock version....

See this post in our G&L Knowledgebase: What are the USA neck size options, past and present?.

The standard spec neck for a 2002 ASAT Classic was the #2 neck (7 1/2" radius and 1 5/8" width at the nut). Reference Page 25 in our Gallery: Album: 2001 G&L Catalog.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Craig.

I was thinking that designs and offerings changed in January 2002.

The standard neck spec for the ASAT Classic changed to the #1 neck (12" radius) in August of 2012.

Would it have been considered a modern C or vintage C profile?

Thanks

If you mean "it" being the 2002 #2 neck, it would be similar to the 2009-2013 G&L Vintage "C" neck.
If you want to order a current ASAT Classic with a similar neck, you would want to order the Classic C neck with a 7.5" radius.

Hope this helps.

Great. Yes, i am still referring to the 2002 G&L ASAT Classic. (I meant to type "Would it be")

Curious is the nut on the 2002 bone or some type of composite?

Thanks again.

So if accurate,

<2009 - Micarata, hard plastic
>=2009 - Bone

My 2002 must be just the hard plastic if it was the only option

As mentioned in the post I referenced:
There is also the optional Graph Tech Graphite nut, too. It is black in color.
If the nut color is white or creme, it would be the stock Micarata nut, assuming you bought the guitar new from a G&L dealer.

I ordered custom with other non-standard feature as the dealer direct from G&L
