New guitar suggestions

Post by helmet4000 »

Hi

I am interested in a G&L. I want the twang of a telecaster with a vibrato system that can go up and down (not dive-bombing) and stay in tune well.

The SC-2 seems compelling, but there is a lack of information. Any insight would be appreciated.

You may want to check out this article.

Both the SC-2 and ASAT Special have DFV bridge as an option. Both have the large soapbar MFD pickups that I'm a fan of.

generally speaking the SC2 is a pound or more lighter than the ASAT , the big MFD's sound like a P90 on steroids for the neck pickup or just like a P90 with the tone roll backed , bridge cuts through on leads and not brittle .... these pick ups sound good drop C if you down tune and not wash out provided amp is capable of down tuning ..... LE2. Fallout and SC2 are my favorite G&L's , just love the shape , balance and light weight ....... G&L could do a lot more on advertising the SC 2 , it's a very capable guitar that know one knows about

I ordered a SC-2 from GC...Himalayan blue. It ships on 1/13 to store so I can get adjustments and return if not satisfied.

I think it will do a great surf tone...i asked Robert poss who has SC-1 and he made some suggestions about making keeping it in tune with using bar.

I should say that my tone is fluctuating around clean surf and country twang and then other pieces with big drop d chords with distortion.

I have a g2 zoom pedal with patches I will test the SC-2 with.

I wonder if it's possible to have a twang with a vibrato...

By the way, the DFV stay really well in tune...

The SC2 is a good choice for what you want, is one of the best looking guitars out there, and incredibly comfortable.

And of course you can get twangy with a vibrato!

The dfv does hold tune very well if it's set up properly.

The S-500 is very versatile as well and might be worth considering.

Looking forward to seeing your SC-2. Please post some photos and don't forget to add it to our G&L Registry.
And, let us know how you like it! Oh, and let us know what suggestions you got from Robert Poss about setting up the DFV.
