Why isn't the ASAT Classic wired like a Tele?
Just curious. The ASAT Classic wiring sure looks different than a normal Telecaster. It's tone cap is just on the tone pot instead of going to the volume pot. The tone seems to get darker faster than my Tele tone control does.

Because Leo liked it that way! Actually, the very early ASAT Classic does have a slightly different wiring with a higher cap value and an additional resistor on the tone pot. They basically used the same wiring as they used for the Broadcaster/ASAT of that era. But it was observed that tone circuit robbed the ASAT Classic of some spunk. So ever since about October 1990 it has been the way it is right now. Interestingly enough, the wiring on the ASAT (Special) became identical to the ASAT Classic!Figaro wrote:Just curious. Thanks. I rewired it like a Fender Tele, using the stock .022 cap and now the tone control works and sounds like a Tele should.yowhatsshakin wrote:Because Leo liked it that way!
