Hi G&L Fans,
I picked up an old G&L S500 at an estate sale for cheap. I'm not much of a guitar head, more of a casual player.
I was wondering if anyone could help me definitively identify which G&L model this is, along with a fair asking price for sale with a hard top case.
Thanks so much for your help!
Can someone identity this G&L + a fair asking price?

What is the serial number? Please post a photo of the back of the guitar, so we can see whether it has a 3-bolt or 4-bolt neck.
The serial number will either be on the 3-bolt neck plate, or on the back of the headstock (4-bolt neck).
The model is "S-500". The serial number will help in determining the build year.
For pricing, see this post in our G&L Knowledgebase: Is there a good source for getting G&L instrument values?.

Hi Craig,
Thanks very much for the help! Looks like the serial number is: CL09363.
If you or anyone else can identify the number, I'd certainly appreciate it.
Thanks!

That format was used for about a year in 1997-1998.

Thanks Ken!
What would you say a reasonable price would be for this model, in good condition, with a hard top case included?

I'm not the best person to ask, as nearly all the G&Ls I've bought or sold were quite a bit older. You could check the Blue Book (see the link in Craig's post above), or check for comparables that have sold on Reverb. I'd call any S-500 with similar features (for example, alder body, and sunburst or clear finish) produced in the '90s comparable for that purpose.

Please do add your guitar to our G&L Registry.
Hope this helps.

FWIW, I recently purchased a 1995 S-500 on eBay for ~ $750, including shipping. It's in near-mint condition, with just a small "indentation" on the upper bout. FYI, I had been tracking S-500s on eBay for a couple of months and I think I got a great deal. Most used S-500s from this era are selling for $900+.
