96 Asat Special neck

Post by ccwhwy61 »

I own a Asat Special from I believe to be 1996. Am looking to order another G&L and might want to get the same neck. It has a 1 5/8 nut and 12" radius with med. jumbo frets and is a 4 bolt. Is this a Classic C or Modern C or something else? Would rather not have to pop the neck off to find out. A Heritage 86 was recommended by dealer on pending new guitar......any thoughts or comments would be welcome! Thanks fellas!! Great guitars!!!! Play mainly blues and blues/rock genre and spend a lot of time midway and in the upper frets with lots of bending! Any neck recommendations...(profiles, etc.) ??? Serial number on guitar is CLF23575 and is a Blonde over Swamp Ash Asat Special called "My Babe"!! She's a keeper!!!

Howdy,

First, the Heritage guitars are quite nice. Just different form the G&Ls.

You gotta decide what k d of sound you want, then get that guitar.

Next. Nope. That's it.

To guitar_ed: The Heritage 86 is a neck option for G&L....sorry for not clarifying that.

Your ASAT Special probably has a #1 neck. See this post in our G&L Knowledgebase: What are the USA neck size options, past and present?.
If you can, measure the neck depth at the 1st and 12th frets and then look at the current neck chart for a close match.
Based upon your playing style, you might consider a Modern Classic neck with a 12" radius.

Hope this helps.
