I've recently purchased a Comanche and love it.
The dual fulcrum vibrato works great and is an interesting tool. However, I often like to use alternative tunings. My hope was to install a tremel-no so that I could get the best of both worlds.
Unfortunately, it appears that additional holes need to be drilled into the guitar in order to properly install the tremel-no. Has anyone done this? Is this an easy modification or are there some potential problems I should be aware of?
Is anyone aware of any other options out there to help solve my problem? I'd like to be able to switch easily between hardtail and a functioning dual vibrato.

I had not heard of this but it sounds interesting. Should you decide to move forward, please do a follow-up post and let us know what you think and how difficult/easy it was to do.

Yeah, you're going to have to drill in new claw holes. Obv take it to someone if that gives you any pause.
There are other options out there, but you will lose the ability to pull the strings sharp, and a key to a traditional trem's tuning stability is to have it floating, so at that rate you'd just be better off hard-tailing the trem and using it as dive only.
If this is just jamming at home, you could use a post-it notepad and remove enough paper until it can sit underneath the trem on the face of the body and retune. You could cut an eraser until it fits, or a block of wood or eraser can be fitted in the back between the trem block and trem cavity under the springs, and then remove it when you want a floating bridge.
Of course, none of the trem block options will work if you are using an open tuning that increases overall string tension (e.g., open E tuning) or country bends etc., but will work great for drop D, open G, dadgad etc., that drop tension.

Not sure if these will work but they are G&L original parts. It looks like you will have to drill a hole. I don't know much about these things but search Ebay for 'G&L parts" and they should come right up.
Maybe some else on the forum has experience or more info on these things to help you out. As far as I know, these were made to do exactly what you need.

Sounds like you have justification for another G&L. Remember, it is not duplication as long as it is a different color.

My guitar tech put 2 pieces of hard resine under the bridge to keep it flat ... no more trem and work very well... I'm damn pleased...

That's the easiest way to make a bridge dive only, but it's pretty much permanent (in terms of switching back and forth being practical) and not necessary for a traditional bridge, which you can just deck (have the bridge set up against the body and then raise the action).meursault wrote:My guitar tech put 2 pieces of hard resine under the bridge to keep it flat ... no more trem and work very well... He tried to deck it but didn't work... too many fret buzz or the action was too high...
OP want a "back and forth" solution... didn't noticed that...
It was a good move for me, I can change tunings easily on stage and keep the DF that looks pretty cool !
