Zinc or brass saddles on the saddle lock bridge?

The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

Zinc or brass saddles on the saddle lock bridge?

Post by psychocandy »

So, I have a Fallout Tribute and I was upgrading the stock saddles on the bridge to the brass saddles, but somehow in the process of switching them out I got them mixed up and can't remember which ones are which (zinc or brass). Is there any way of telling them apart? One set has little numbers on the bottom of each saddle. Could that be an indicator? :?

I can't tell you which set is brass & which is zinc, but I would put one set, try them, then the other set. Go with the set that sounds best. Not by what the metal is called.

IMHO.

I guess I could do that. I was just trying to save some time and avoid having to string/re-string the guitar. ;)

Thanks. I tried just sticking a magnet to them, but they both seemed to have the same amount of pull, which I thought was weird.
