Build info query - ASAT Super

Post by johnagm »

Hi all! I purchased an ASAT Super a few years back from ProGuitarShop, and I was wondering if I could get some build info. The salesman touted it as a 'prototype', so I'm interested as to more specific detail on this. Serial No. is CLF57195. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Many thanks!

I contacted Dave McLaren at G&L and he said:
Hi Craig,

He also emailed here so we’ll just come back to his email. Thanks, Craig.

Dave
Please post the info you get about your ASAT Super and don't forget to post a photo or two. It does not exist without photos! ;)
Also, add it to the G&L Registry, too.

Hi Craig, sent pics to Dave two weeks ago and haven't received reply.

Do you have contact with him to see what's happening?

Cheers!

I emailed Dave last night and heard back this morning. He will get back to you soon (if not already).

We'd love to see a photo or two, remember, it does not exist without photos. ;)
And don.t forget to add it to our G&L Registry, too.

Thanks,

Thanks craig, having some trouble with sending pics to David! I ended up setting a Dropbox, but I haven't heard from him. If you could flick him a message again, that'd be great!

Hi John,

Nive score! :happy0065:

The only difference I see is the slightly different color: something that looks like Clear Red on yours and Tobacco Sunburst. The first 10 (and a few more later) had Gibson style knobs (see my Super).

But also read up on the Super on Special Edition and Non-Production ASAT-style guitars (USA) in the Knowledgebase. You'll notice that there is a list of Supers built for the English and German markets in 2010, a year that jibes with your S/N. It might be you have one built in that run although the combination Clear Red/Tortoise guard is not listed. Note: Clear Red is mislabeled as Trans Red.

Hope this helps,

- Jos

Your photos were way too big, so I resized them in the Gallery.

I'm fairly sure that the body color is Honey (HNY).

See these photos:

For comparison, here is my All Mahogany ASAT with Natural Gloss finish and my ASAT Junior with Translucent Cherry finish.

Perhaps another run was done but the information was not added to the Custom Creations page for the ASAT Super.

Last I heard he was waiting on photos from you. I suggest you send the photos I posted for you here to him. I will be out of town beginning tomorrow for the week.
