Back in Black (crinkle) ?

The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

Back in Black (crinkle) ?

Post by Elwood »

I see this L-2500 has a black coated Saddle-Lock bridge . Does this mean that Black hardware is an option again ?

I've also noticed non-chrome bridges on the Tribby Superhawk .
They didn't look crinkly though.

Has anyone seen these 'new' hardware finishes in person ?

Sorry, been a bit distracted lately (see Where's Craig June through August ...).

Only the Jerry Cantrell Superhawk (but not on the Deluxe Superhawk model) US and Tribute models currently in production have them.
There have been a few prototype instruments which I've seen with them, too. When I get a chance, I will ask Dave if there are any future
plans to offer Black crinkle coated hardware.

Stay tuned.

Contrary to what this auction description says, the body wood is East Indian Walnut (aka Monkey Pod). This is probably one of the special builds
Steve Grom had the factory build during his time as Director at the Factory. Look at the Custom Build Specification sheet (obviously the author of the auction ad didn't. ).

Hi folks.

Was thinking about the black powder coated finishes & this old thread.

Speaking personally, I would eagerly pay extra for black powder coated hardware as an option, if it was offered on all instruments. It's aesthetically cool, classy and unique; and also a fine nod to the company's heritage.

Any new news (or links to more recent threads about this, that I couldn't find) is appreciated. Thank you!

Bump on this thread. If we can't get the black crinkle hardware from G&L, does anyone know where we could get existing hardware "crinklized"?

Check for local powder-coating companies in your area.

Hope this helps.
