ASAT neck question

Post by cho »

This neck is being advertised as a "Modern C", but there is no G&L "Modern C" designation. Can anyone tell me which kind of neck this is? The writing in the neck pocket does say #3, so does that confirm that it is a "Wide C"?

Thanks, in advance!

What year guitar are you going to attach this to? That becomes important.

Here's the neck heel photo:

It's clear that this is a 4/23/2013 replacement neck for an ASAT Special #3 neck, so yes, it is the Wide C (1 11/16" nut width).
Reference: 2009 - 2013 USA Neck Profile Tables.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Craig!

Edg, I am starting a project with an 2008 ASAT body I just purchased. I also found a pickguard that has holes for two large MFD pickups and a middle strat pickup. I would like a neck with a maple fretboard (second choice is ebony), but I don't like the wider neck, so I will keep on looking. I also need to get the rest of the guitar parts, including neck plate, tuners, control plate and DFV bridge (yes, my ASAT body is routed for a DFV, which, along with this pickup configuration, should make it a relatively unique ASAT!)

Craig (or others), related question:
Can I purchase necks directly from G&L?
I see that there are necks in their online store, but there is none in stock. Can I order a custom neck from them?

No, you cannot order a separate custom neck from the G&L. See this post in the G&L Knowledgebase: Compilation of Replacement neck info posted on the G&L Forum.
