Unbelievable guitar. I was not going to post anything on this guitar for a while but I just can't believe what I have here. One of my favorite guitars has been the Guild S300-D. A guitar that was the first brand new guitar I treated myself to when I graduated High School. Never had a brand new guitar. This was an all mahogany, Ebony fretboard with DeMarzio high distortion pickups. a screamer ax with pedigree and the build and electronics to back it up. Long story but had to sell it to pay my way out of traffic court a few years later. Always wanted another one. Until recently when I saw this guitar. The 2004 ASAT HB. Unbelievable workmanship, tone, HOT WOUND PICKUPS and the HOG+EBONY BUILD. I am blown away!!














This thing plays just like a ringing a bell and can explode into thunder like nothing I have ever played . Love to have such a monster innovation.

That looks like fun. The mahogany builds during that period were really nice. I had two Asat Supers that were wonderful to play.

I did not know about / consider one of these when I was looking for my own HB Mahogany guitar. Yours looks great ! I am glad you found a worthy replacement for that Guild.

Jos, How do you prefer to store your collector type guitars? I really don't plan on playing my ASAT COMM or the ASAT Three due to their rarity. This is why I am picking up some to play like the Invader and the '97 ASAT III.

I have read so much about storing with full string tension, tuned down a step, no string tension and no truss bar tension. It seems there are different methods but no real winner. What do you recommend, I am sure you have guitars with a similar fate.

I'd love to hear perspectives on this, too. Mine are in a fairly constant rotation, so most aren't in a case for more than a month or two at a time. I leave them tuned, and more often than not they are still in tune when I pull them out.

Any time I stop playing, collector guitar or not, it goes back in its case. The moment I swap out a guitar to be played, the previous one is tuned down half a step and the case is stored. All but a few of my cases are standing upright against a wall in a room that is fairly well temperature controlled. IO measure temperature and humidity but the climate over here is fairly guitar friendly.

Keeping them in the case gives the most protection for temperature and humid swings. And earthquakes ...

Not a big fan of earthquakes unless my system makes them. That's why I could never live in Cali. Although I have actually been through 4 separate quakes on the east coast...Always have to run to the nearest bar for "After Shots"!!

Thanks for the info, I think I will do just that, tune down a bit, keeping some tension on the strings and neck. I always try to keep guitars in cases too for protection. I will check on them every so often but like I said, a few were not bought to be played.

Welcome, sounds like a nice score, please post pics. Look on the introductions page for tutorials on posting pics if you need.
Also, you should register the guitar in the registry section too.

These are very nice guitars, I have two and they make such sweet sounds all the way up to pretty hard core overdrive with that neck pup. Let 'er loose!!
