Ashtray bridge cover anyone?

The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

Ashtray bridge cover anyone?

Post by dominic »

Anyone add the bridge cover to their ashtray bridge on an ASAT? My palm tends to rest there and thought it would be more comfortable with the cover on.....looking at pictures of Fender Teles; to me they look better with the cover on.....

The Fender ashtray fits perfectly on the G&L bridge. And I personally like the look of it. Here pics of my ASAT '50 and ASAT Classic:

the original tele bridge/pup cover was recommended for "proper shielding" of the pickup. of course, if you were a cool "man", like Muddy Waters, you used the "ash tray" cover for its more common application 8-)
anybody think the tele or asat sound better with the cover on?

Jos, No offence intended but you just kill me with these guitars!! The neck on that ASAT 50 is intense. I would kill for a neck that looks like that! It's not even birdseye, its spazeye or something. Man, great score where ever you got it. I am in AWE!

Sorry, just had to say it.

Tom,

I should stop swinging these things at ya ;-)

The ASAT '50 is #1 and appears in in George Fullerton's second book: "Guitars from George and Leo". The circuit, especially in the "neck" position is darker than what you would find on a current ASAT Classic Solamente.
