Guitars with gold bridge plates.

Post by FZTNT »

Question: What guitars were built in 1983 with gold bridge plates. Saw this plate on Ebay recently and wondered what it went to. Serial #G012020 which is not in the registry.

I can't find specs from the early years that even mention hardware options let alone gold.

I have a white 1983 Cavalier with gold hardware. The number on my bridge is G012685. I believe there were only around 700 Cavaliers made between '83 & '86, and when I showed it here on the forum a couple of years ago, one of the guys said there would have been a very small number with gold hardware.

G011752 is gold plated, and apparently was a trial for a saddle idea.

Actually, gold hardware as an official option started in 2001 and by mid-2006 it was dropped from the list of options.
Gold hardware was done mostly for NAMM guitars prior to 2001.
