Bridge pup to match Seth Lover

Post by SIXSTRINGER »

I've installed a Seth Lover in my BB Tribute and plan on changing out the bridge pickup as well. Need suggestions on what pickups are good with the Seth. I play Country and Blues and I'm a fan of Duncan pickups but open to suggestions.

Is that your same porn-star BB with the Gotoh bridge?
I may be mistaken but I had thought that the Gotoh bridge plate was brass, in which case it is probably making the bridge MFD sound more brittle rather than fatter. Steel (NOT stainless) is best for beef, as it spreads the magnetic field of the pickup.
I know Danny Gatton used stainless, but he was wanting more brights to go with his Bardens; quite a different situation from most of us.

Very sultry-pretty BB, for sure! Really nice looker.

Yes, it's the same one and thanks. Actually I liked the MFD quite a bit especially in the middle switch position.

Tim GuitarsOnTheWeb wrote:Are you disappointed with the bridge pickup? In switching to a Seth Lover you may need (if Tributes are done same as USA) change the ground planes to the mfd at the bridge. That's going to change the middle position to a very sweet tone. And still give you the Tele on Steroids sound at the bridge. Since you've a semi-hollow, the Seth will be more "335-ish" in the neck. My two pesos. :)

Tim
I knew from researching this forum that on the Tribute model the ground has to be reversed on the MFD to get it to work with the Seth Lover so that was done and it worked great for a couple of months. In fact I probably wouldn't be changing it out except for the fact that even though it's fairly new for no apparent reason it quit on me. I took it to my tech who tested it and pronounced it DOA.
