Empress Wood OLS ASAT Classic S

Post by lefty_major »

I'm thinking about an ASAT Classic 'S' OLS in Empress wood. That will make for a mighty light ASAT.

So were talking thinner body, arm and belly contours and the lighter wood.

Does anyone think that would be too light? Too light as in the sound would suffer?

Make the body too light and it may become neck heavy ?

I have that guitar other than I didn't get belly cut ..... But I did get what they now call C+ , which is the 1 11/16 nut so it has to be slightly heavier neck because of the size ..... with locking tuners qtr sawn maple , gloss , ect , if I don't hold onto the neck it will eventually go level with my snark tuner on the very end , ....... the locking tuners I have add a little bit of neck weight too ..... to me it doesn't balance any worse than my SC 2 with the "big head stock" and non locking tuners as it goes level if you don't hold the neck too , my SS series Fallout balances better but it's not bad by any means ..... my ASAT BB weighs 6.5 , I think with a Classic C neck and non locking tuners you wouldn't even notice it

... this is my 5th ASAT , the other three I actually still own are all over 9 lbs , I do not notice a sound compromise compared to my 2013 ASAT Classic in USA flake ,
