An old friend returns......

The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

An old friend returns......

Post by ShawnP »

I recently came into possession of a gorgeous guitar that I have loved for years. In the mid to late '90's I worked for Daddy's Junky Music in Dedham MA. G&L's were always a challenging guitar to sell, people just didn't want to hear the story behind them and if they wanted a Fender there was no convincing them these were better and better priced. That being said, I did sell a bunch of them, but the most amazing one I sold was a '96 S500. I sold it to my father, it was of all the guitars he owned his absolute favorite. Two weeks ago my father passed away leaving behind many beautiful guitars including his much loved S500. So I figured I'd put up some pictures of this great axe, as well as one of my old man with his baby!

Wow, sorry for the loss of father but what a touching way to have memories of your father. A thought every time you play one of them. Very nice S 500 by the way. -- Darwin

Shawn, sincere condolences on your loss. This beautiful S500 will always be a touchstone for sure.

Daddy's, what a shop. I bought a couple of guitars from you in mid 90's, one is the 1988 ASAT I posted in another thread recently. This was blind mail order (phone order) back then. Time flies doesn't it.

Peace
Cya,

Shawn,

I'm very sorry for your loss. My condolences to you and your family. That'll be a tough Holiday ahead.

Some great pics. BTW, what pups are swapped into that S-500?

Thanks for the kind words guys, much appreciated. The stock single MFD's(which I do have) were swapped out shortly after my father purchased it cause he wanted more punch. It has a Duncan JB Hotrail at the bridge and JB Jrs at the middle and neck. The mini toggle was left to work as intended.
