first post with pics of my F100

Hello all, I'm new here. I've been lurking and learning and thought I would join today and try to post a pic or two. My #1 electric is my 2008 F100. I believe this is a reissue vs. the limited 100 unit run in 2007. Blackburst with beautiful flame showing through, EMG's and a gun oil finished maple neck that also shows some flame, with a rosewood board. It has a black back with creme top binding. I'm blown away every time I open the case! I hope you enjoy the pics...

That is one gorgeous F-100!

Given the maple top and the year, it looks to me the body originally was intended for the F-100 Return Edition.

Thanks for the kind words. It is a joy to play y2kc, it has a fantastic range of tones and really responds to changes in attack.
I've wondered about that too Jos. The neck pocket states built Sept. 3, 2009 but it also has a lightly stamped Aug. 28, 2008 in there too. The reissue specs rosewood for the board, but this looks to be ebony and the neck is stamped F100 blackburst ebony with a date of 08/06/09 written in pencil. Maybe a custom order? Whatever its history, it is quite a guitar and I'm lucky to own it!

Does it have an EMG 89 in the bridge ? ( gold logo ). With a push / pull to split to single coil ?

SPG-yes, it has a gold 89 in the bridge and a silver 85 in the neck. No coil splitting though.
Sam- my first impression of the EMG's is that they are brutally honest. Played clean they are crystal clear and articulate...almost too much. My second impression is they make me play accurately and that isn't all bad. It really stretches tone wise, but I seem to play it mostly for cremey, bluesy stuff or classic rock tunes. The other major difference between these active EMG's and my other guitars is the volume. I have to turn down at least 2 notches on the amp to be able to use a reasonable volume setting on the guitar. This thing kicks butt on volume, output?

It's not a light guitar, but it is comfortable with the tummy cut, and it balances beautifully. The maple neck is probably my favorite feature. It's a nice full C shape, lightly flamed, nicely rolled ebony board and perfect fret work.

I don't use a trem very much and have actually blocked them in my strat and Legacy Tribute, but I've left this one functional for two reasons. It works so well I find I'm using it occasionally and it has absolutely no tuning issues. I'm set up with .011's and tune it down one full step to D-d.

I hope this wasn't too wordy, but I guess you can tell I'm pretty stoked about this G&L.

It's unusual to have an 89 with no splitting, as it is basically the same as an 85 but with the split option added. Are you sure the push / pull isn't on the tone control, not the volume ?

I would agree re the EMGs being very honest, on a clean setting there is no hiding place for clams

Trust me, I've tugged on both thinking the same thing. In searching through tones it seems the gold picks up where the silver leaves off. When I play the middle position, which is often, I usually have the tone rolled back about a third. It really does offer a full palette of tones in spite of no splitting. Not being the original owner I have no idea if G&L sold it this way.
