Fender 61´brownface deluxe, Hughes&Kettner edition tube 20th anniversary,
VHT special 5 ultra head with homemade cab with a 12" eminence red fang.

I've been a Fender guy since the 60s, and I play in a surf band, and currently own a Showman and a Showman Reverb. But....I have been using a Quilter Mach 2 Micro Pro head through a 1x15 cabinet with a Weber California for my last several gigs, and it is a great set-up. Deep clarity and warmth, headroom, and fine reverb. And it weighs seven pounds!

The Micro Pro head is a little larger than that, but still very portable, and just seven pounds. And, it roars for deep headroom surf! Here it is at our last gig:

I'm up to 7 g&ls...07 asat, 94 asat, 81 f100 I, 81 f100 II, 83 sc3, 00 Comanche , 96 legacy and I I use boogie mark 3's (coliseum and regulars) and a Roland jc120 (which is also an awesome piano amp) all the speakers (except the Roland) are evm12l's ranging from zack Wilde's 300s to early 80s fender branded aluminum domed)

You could say we like it loud around here

I have different amps for different reasons ... Fender Twin 1973 , Peavey Classic 30 , Carvin VT 50 head , Carvin V3m , Mesa MK V are the main amps I use out of 8 amps I own

gigging I use a Carvin V3m micro head with three channels or a Mesa MK V exclusively .... we play mostly heavy metal , I mainly use my Fallout on gigs and bridge pup in particular with these two amps , my Cavalier and SC2 on occaision , these are my favorite two amps that get the most play time

Fender Twin and Carvin VT 50 are my favorite single coil guitar amps , Bcaster , Comanche , S500 ASAT Classic , Deluxe and Legacy .... the Carvin VT50 is modified by Richard Hasselbrock and my Legacy paired with the Carvin VT50 is my absolute favorite sounding combo though of no use in our Metal band , nothing makes my Legacy sound better than the Carvin VT50 .... the other single coils like the VT50 and Twin reverb

Peavey Classic just gets used when I need a small light combo

my cabs are all Carvin , one of my 2x12 are Celestion V30 , one has Carvin GT speakers and one has a Eminence Swamp things and have a 1x12 with V30 .... gig wise a V30 paired with the Swamp thangs are what I take other wise the Carvin GT speakers are my best all around speakers

My favourite combination is my 2004 ASAT Classic Semi Hollow through my 5E3 Tweed Deluxe clone that I built myself about 5 years ago including the solid pine cabinet and the tweed covering. Great for playing some slow, raunchy blues through.

Carvin was my dark horse for a few years... I want something really simple and low wattage like a Fender Champ 600 (throug a 2x10 cab maybe) or a Ampeg GVT5 or Randall RVC 5 or maybe a Blackstar HT5. I only tried the Champ and I really like the sound of that thing. Would have to get some pedal for the dirt though.

Just got a Yamaha THR10 a couple of weeks ago. My other amp is a Superchamp XD that I have had for a few years. I upgraded the speaker and the tubes in the SCXD and I can get tones galore out of it. The THR10, however is really in a class by itself. Many members here ( including myself ) may have paid it no heed . If you are looking for uncompromising tone in a practice amp this is what you want. Sounds awesome at low volume whatever amp model you select. Great effects, you can use batteries if you want , headphone jack and you can connect any MP3 device into an auxillery jack and use it as a boom box if you like. The guitar input has a separate volume so you can play along with any of your favorited songs. I won't get into how you can record direct into garage band or whatever DAW you might use. It also has a bass setting that sounds good too. Tons of YouTube videos for it as my describtion does not do it justice. If you can't already tell, it has made me into quite the fanboy. It really makes me want to play all the time. Very portable .

Currently Flyrig 5 from Tech21 and there Power engine 60 2x12
And just in a Kemper head (also to use with the Power engine) but have to got a bit more time with the kemper to learn to know the stuff.

Lovely-looking build of your DIY, C24!!
Super-neat mitring of the tweed at the corners, really smart good job.

I'm finding I get everything done with a Deluxe Reverb (Bright cap removed, and a variable neg feedback pot fitted on the back, and Eminence Red White and Blues speaker for even response and less brittleness), my home-made Vibro-Champ clone, and a Kingsley Juggler modded for more bottom end out of the drive section and a couple of level tweaks, for a preamp / drive box. That lot plus a slightly modded Soul Food for an alternative, more silicon-type drive and I'm good to go. Works great with Asats Z-3, Bluesboy, Special and also National Resolectric and Danelectro U2.

My main amp is a custom made, 20W super clean amp with a 12" Eminence Red Fang speaker. It was made by Glen Morris of Morris Amps,

It has a 2W distortion channel with 2 levels. What I love about the amp is it sounds great at 1/2 as it does at 10.

I also just bought a Fender Champ 600 for $150, it was an open box sale. Its a 5W, 6 inch speaker and only has a volume knob. I have it under my desk in the office and its great for noodling, etc. I like how it sounds. I'm sure its not a super great amp, but it works great and I can hear the guitar pups nicely thru it. I run it at around 5 and no one has complained about it being too loud, lol.

The champ 600 is amazing for what it is. I got two that i run in stereo sometimes or one just through a cab. Mine are not going anywhere anytime soon. Lately I needed a bit more volume so they have been on vacation

those morrisamps are sure nice, but gosh, if I had the money I would buy a Toneville for $2500 and that's a really great amp IMO and all handmade too. I like the Champ 600 a lot, just maybe through a 2x10 speaker cab.

I think I played it and it definitely sounded nice, it just seemed to lack a bit in the touch sensitivity and harmonics department.

Thanks Nick. That was my first attempt at a tweed job. There were a few errors to get to the finished product. Mitring the corners is actually quite easy once you get the hang of it. Just pinch the material at the corners and slice off the excess with a razor knife.

your cuts at the corners are v. neat too. I do agree, once you get the hang, it's less daunting to do than when you're first puzzling over it! And wet gluey tweed is surprisingly mobile and adjustable for a little while, isn't it?
What I am particularly impressed to see is your matching of the pattern of the separate tweed pieces, really nicely done.

i use a carvin V3m (50W, all tube) thru a 2x12 carvin cab with the stock gt12 speakers.
i usually run it at the 22W setting, even for moderate rooms. it's versatile and sounds amazing with my asat special,
and, it doesn't break my back!

I have a few amps to choose from but currently my main amp is a classic Marshall JCM800 2203 100W head with the classic cabinet (1960A with G12-T75), both of vintage production (early 80ies). Killer crunch sound that is going to cut through anything with any of my G&Ls although I really came to like the tone of the ASAT Special and ASAT Super.
Lately I have been more into the sound and feel of hollowbodys (especially with this amp) so the G&L don't get as much playing time as they used to.

My #1 is a Fender Princeton 68 Reverb. #2 is a Vox AC4C1TV. The Vox is a fantastic little amp I take to open mic nights. It's light, loud & versatile with just the volume knob on the guitar. The Princeton...well, it's a Princeton. You already know how awesome that is

Hiwatt Lead 50 that I modded
Both go through a 2x12 and a 1x10 rotary (leslie) type cab

I also have a Vox VT40+ for practice and smaller stuff with a Weber Michigan 10'' ceramic speaker

Similar to Stevie Ray. I use an MXR analogue chorus with two outputs. The thru to one amp via an ovedrive pedal and the midulated directly to the other.

They are good sounding amps, but I think that person is nuts. Over 2 grand for a hybrid amp?!! You can buy a Peavey Classic VTX (it had the same setup solid state preamp, 6L6 power amp) for about $200-300 and change the speakers to 2x10 IMO. I used to have one and I got mine for $40

+1. They are great amps. Great cleans. They can overdrive nicely on Lo power when the power tubes (not the solid state preamp!) get hit, but it is loud that way. And the Leslie effect on the upper range of the vibrato/tremolo circuit is fabulous. Ones in good original condition in the States are hitting $500-700 or so. But the one in this ad has replacement knobs and some extra wiring---I can't tell if that flat red thing in the middle of the back is another transformer or what, but it's not original. The speakers might not be original. He is delusional on the price.

My absolute favorite is the Carr. Very versatile - can swap different power tubes and re-bias in a couple minutes, and great sounds at bedrooms levels - even heavily distorted. Both my G&L's sound great through it.

I have to ditto the previous comments on the THR10. It is a fun amp, easy, portable, versatile. I will add that it also has a setting for your acoustic guitar along with bass or electric for some fun.

I really like all of my amps but the others are just too loud for my situation by the time you crank them enough to get the power tubes to party.
