Hi guys, I just found out now the forum, and maybe someone here can help me understand this.
I'm looking for G&L guitars for some time, but unfortunately the most nearby dealer is 3:30 hours from were I live.
But anyway I was decided to buy a G&L ordering from an on line store.
First I thought that the Legacy Tribute in Blue Burst will be the one, and you can't imagine how happy I was, it was just my dream guitar.
But then I realized that the s500 would be a better option, especially because the pull push feature. Then I found out that the s500 is not available in this color.
The question is, why? If I'm not wrong, is the same body, only changes the pickups and the maple neck...
And for worse, I'm not even enthusiastic with the available colors...
Will G&L in the future change this, or my dream is off?

Re: S500 in Blue Burst
I'd try to score used S500 PUs or a loaded pickguard, or even a complete Tribute S500 (sometimes they appear used for cheap money) then swap the pickguards. The Push/Pull is easily added in case, btw.

Hi,
Part of the answer about color availability is its source: The Tribute guitars are made in Indonesia, and in a limited range of colors. And the differences between the guitars are: The model/logo on the neck, the pick guard, and the pups. It's the PG and the pups that are important. There is no easy 2nd source of the PG. You will have to have one made. If you are in the US, or can do business easily in the US, pickguardheaven.com might be able to help. Note: The US and Tribute guitars use slightly different PGs and you can not move a PG from one guitar to the other. The pups, on the other hand, are all US made pups, regardless of the guitar brand/label.
So, if you really want a S-500 in blueburst, it will have to be MIA, not a Tribute.
As to why? all of the above, I don't know. It just is.

As mentioned, these guitars you are looking at are part of G&L's Tribute Series.Pgranadas wrote:Hi guys, I just found out now the forum, and maybe someone here can help me understand this.

The PG of Legacy and S500 is identical. The S500 pickups have standard size and fit into any PG (I know because I test drove S500's in my Squier and PRS strats).guitar_ed wrote: The Tribute guitars are made in Indonesia, and in a limited range of colors. I believe Ed is referring to Tribute vs USA pickguards. See: S-500 and Legacy Pick Guards.
Hope this helps.
