Hello all.
I have a USA Legacy in Lake Placid Blue with matching color headstock. The neck is too narrow for me. I would much prefer what is now referred to as Classic Plus C (#3) or Classic Wide C (#4). For reference, I'm very comfortable with PRS "wide fat" neck on their SE models. Out of curiosity, I just measured the width at the nut of both my Legacy and my PRS SE 245 Soapbar. What's surprising is that, while the Legacy is 1-5/8" and the PRS is 1-11/16", the string spacing is 9/32" on both guitars! Isn't this rather unexpected? After all, my main reason for wanting a wider neck is to have greater string spacing.
I gather, from the posts I've seen about getting a new neck from G&L, that they will not sell replacement necks. This is especially disappointing since I'd like to keep the matching color headstock. So, my interest is in getting recommendations and feedback about companies like Warmoth, MusiKraft, and FreeNote from which to get a replacement neck. In fact, does anyone know whether any of these companies could make a replacement neck with the headstock to match the body color?
Much thanks for any advice.
David
P.S.: The serial number of my Legacy is CLF43473. Anyone have any idea about when it was made? Is there a means of determining exactly when it was made based on the serial number without removing the neck?

Re: USA Legacy neck replacement
Hm I am a bit confused here...now this is what my case was...I live in Europe, Croatia, and I contacted the G&L distributor in Belgium where my cousin lives...I ordered neck by G&L, new pickups and new dual fulcrum vibrato system...it took a month or two but I got it... So I am not sure why you couldnt get new neck... I got neck by G&L directly from USA...at least I was told so...here I found my e-mails with company

Dear mr Akrap,
To order a new neck I need to know the serial number of your guitar (most start with CLF and 6 digits) because G&L holds the records of all guitars they built in the past so a new neck fits in the pocket (more or less) of the body.
Of course it is possible to fit maple fretboard instead of rosewood.
There is no difference in price, both cost approximately € 150,-. To be more precise about the price I first need the serial number of your guitar.
Delivery time is commonly 2-3 months.
Hoping to hear from you soon,
Best regards,
EMpmusic

Pavao,
Thanks for your reply. Since this was about four years ago, I wonder whether they've changed their policy regarding selling replacement necks. I already have one G&L authorized dealer looking into it, but the dealer told me that he did not think G&L would be willing to do so.
Who is EMpmusic? Is that the dealer in Belgium?
Thanks, again. I'll report back when I get an answer.

You might want to check the on-line store. They have American necks every now and then,
