Neck change....?

The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

Neck change....?

Post by lefty_major »

If I was interested in getting G&L to change the neck on one of my guitars (a G&L guitar), would I go thru them directly, or go thru a dealer?

This is not a warranty issue, just thinking of changing a neck.

Anyone ever do this before with them? Any ballpark cost?

Not an answer to your question really, but I have a couple of brand new tribute legacy necks, one with maple fretboard and one with rosewood, if you are interested.

Thanks, but no. Thinking either 1 11/16" or 1 3/4" nut.

I suggest contacting Chris Robosan at G&L. See: Support.

Also, check this post in the G&L Knowledgebase: Compilation of Replacement neck info posted on the G&L Forum.

Please let us know if you are able to get a new neck from G&L and I will add this info to the G&L Knowledgebase post I referenced above.

Thanks, Craig.
I just emailed Chris. I follow-up with another post when I find out more. I'm curious about the cost....

If you hit a dead end, Musikraft offer replacement necks for G&Ls - they won't have a logo but you can have whatever shape you wantthough.

Thank you, blarg.

I haven't heard back from Chris so I have a Luthier looking at this for me.

I had a neck change on a Comanche that twisted a birdseye neck , I could have ordered any of the menu options like matching head stock and such , I went with basically the same neck as before but quartersawn and had SS frets installed , it took about a month to receive ..... I went through my local dealer for that service , it cost around 550.00 with the SS frets and gragh tech nut installed at the factory , then we re-used my hardware and locking tuners
