How do G&L guitars react to heavy and downtuned music? Most the time it's jazzy blues on You Tube, but G&L guitars have something great about them Jackson, Ibanez or ESP doesn't have.
Anyone has got some experience with downtuned musc?

With their 25.5" scale length G&L's do well with lower tunings, also I find G&L's do have a somewhat darker timbre in general which suits just fine. I tune Drop-C# most of the time. My ASAT Super with its overwound MFD's sound freaking awesome downtuned.
If you want to use very fat strings (0.060" and thicker) the tapered posts of the tuners are not optimum IME, but tuners can be replaced.
Extreme gain settings can always be problematic with single-coils, though, and the lack of shielding in the US models doesn't help either to have lowest possible levels of interference noise even in humbucker guitars, but again that can be fixed.

mine do well at a whole step down and drop C , I did go up to 11's on a couple and 10-52's on the others , not sure which way I prefer , maybe the 10-52's a little better

Oh, nice to read!
The Asat Deluxe I got in mind has got a Duncan JB, so no single coil. Last time in the studio I played a Gibson Traditional in B and sometimes half a step lower. I used Ernie Ball strings 56-10, but had a lot of tuning issues. That's why I'm looking for a larger scaled guitar, but I just don't like the usual "metal" guitars.
I use a JCM 800 with very few gain and a RAT pedal (little distortion).
