The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.
Since the planned public and press launch date was to be September 1st, and dealers are now advertising the 35th Anniversary Collection,
I have chosen to post the only information I have on the collection now.
Here is what was sent to the G&L dealers last month:
The emerald: it’s the traditional gemstone of the 35th anniversary … and tradition means as much to G&L as innovation.
So the G&L 35th Anniversary Collection is wrapped exclusively in gorgeous Emerald Green Metallic. It’s the perfect finish
to unique instruments that showcase the tradition of innovation represented by Leo Fender and G&L.
The 35th Anniversary Collection includes five popular models – three guitars and two basses:
ASAT Special ASAT Classic Bluesboy Legacy LB-100 M-2000
These exceptional instruments feature Leo and Leo-inspired innovations, such as a Saddle Lock Bridge or a Dual-Fulcrum Tremolo,
Magnetic Field Design (MFD) pickups, Passive Treble & Bass (PTB) controls and more.
Then we apply Emerald Green Metallic to an alder body and each headstock, which features a distinctive silver-on-black G&L logo minus
the model name for an especially elegant look.
The back of the neck on every instrument is finished in G&L's Light Tint Satin for a smooth, comfortable feel. On models with a pickguard,
Pearlescent provides just the right look, and both ASAT models feature front and back contours applied to the Original Leo Spec (OLS) slim body
for unsurpassed comfort and light weight with full-on tone.
Ugly, ugly, ugly. Yet another example of a finish being the only thing separating a special edition from standard - and is this a different emerald green than the one offered as a standard fiinish???
I don't think they're necessarily ugly, but I really don't see anything unique or special about these. Anyone can order an emerald green model in the same specs to look identical to them.
I would think special anniversary editions would have something out of the ordinary about them. TBH it doesn't seem much thought went into this release.

I agree though that there really doesn't seem to be anything about this series that differentiates them from a normal custom order.
Here is G&L's response to a similar comment posted on their facebook page:
Yes, but this one has 35th Anniversary logo on the back of the headstock AND it's priced lower than the options sold separately. So, you get added coolness for less coin.
I'm a big G&L fan but I have to say this Anniversary model still does nothing for me. It has a logo on the back of the headstock that no one will ever see.
As some one mentioned on facebook it would be so much better with a bound body and a bound fingerboard. Or a Leo inspired motif or signature on the upper bout. Something to set it apart.
being how they didn't really price it up , I'm all right with it , it's not like your paying for hype it doesn't have , it's pretty darn affordable .... Leo spec body with contours so it's still cool , I wouldn't mine having that blues boy with a #3 neck
They look like nice G&L guitars with a great finish at a good price point. I'm not going to do cartwheels, but I'd be proud to own one, and nobody is holding a gun to my head forcing me to take out the credit card ;+) - ed
