My Fallout is a completely amazing instrument. What I wish I had known was exactly how much I could really, truly love a guitar. My 12yo son was accepted into the jazz band at his middle school playing clarinet, bass clarinet, and... bass guitar. The school supplied him an instrument... I use that term very loosely. When he brought it home for the summer the first thing I did was take it apart and fix the wiring. It's still not great and the pots are shot. But, he seems to enjoy playing. I told him if he wanted to continue after playing all summer, I'd buy him a real bass guitar. He asked me if it could be a G&L. So, this morning I pulled the trigger on a used Tribute M-2000 in honeyburst with maple neck. If he decides he doesn't want to keep playing, I'll add it to my arsenal. When it's finally delivered, I'l get a family pic together. For now, the symptoms of GAS have been slightly abated. Now for some new amplifiers...

Hope he digs it .
A thought, low tension strings (DR sunbeams for example) might make it nicer for growing fingers.
