Tremolo Springs on Tribute Legacy

Post by forchita »

Hi!

I have a G&L Tribute Legacy with 10-46 D'Addario Strings tuned to standard.
I plan to tune to Eb because I play a lot of SRV-Hendrix things.

So I just want to check the necessary steps according to the setup guide:
1)Tune to Eb
2)Put 2/16" spacer between bridge and body
3)Decrease spring tension until distance from bridge to body = 2/16"
4)Repeat
Is this the correct procedure?

Thanks!

PS: I opened the back cover and noticed the tension screws were not parallel. Is this normal?

Yup, with one small correction. Since you tune down, you'll need to place the spacer underneath the vibrato before you tune to E♭. Of course if you don't do that, you could use your whammy bar for the same result, but it is more to point out the base plate will slope down from stud to back.

Good luck,

In my opinion the tension screws should be parallel. -- Darwin

The screws are not drilled parallel but I did the job. I will update if I find a problem.
Thanks for your help!
