Yes I am that new to playing. I decided after great thought to get the best guitar I could, a G&L Legacy Custom.
But since I am so new I could use some advice/information.
There are 3 pickups available to chose from: G&L Standard, DiMarzioo, Bare Knuckle.
I will mainly be playing Blues and very early rock.
What are the 3 pickups characteristics?
Thanks in advance.

Re: G&L Legacy Custom Pickup question
You're not being specific enough. Naming 3 manufactures of pickups doesn't change the fact that all 3 manufactures offer more than one strat pickup... Specific model names would help.
The standard G&L legacy pickups are more or less generic strat pickups. Alnico 5 magnets, moderate wind, similar to the Duncan SSL. More or less similar to what you'd find with many stock alnico magnet strat pickups.
Dimarzio and bareknuckle have several models, without knowing more, can't really help you there, with just a manufacture's name. Depending on which pickups from them, there can be a very different tone. Some dimarzios will be closer to the stock G&L pickups, some will sound 'hotter' more like a P-90, or humbucker.. Some are hum canceling, some are not.

Re: G&L Legacy Custom Pickup question
The name of the pickups is all that is listed on the website and the build site. Thats why I can't be more specific.
Unless some one can share a link that provides which models of the pickups are available for a Legacy Custom.

Re: G&L Legacy Custom Pickup question
What, version of Legacy are you referring to? The only model I see with pickup options in the Legacy HH. All US built guitars are made to order, I assume this is what you mean by custom. There is no model on the G&L website called Legacy Custom. Also, it appears that there is no longer pickup options for single coils (except for cover color in some cases).

Re: G&L Legacy Custom Pickup question
Using the following web build site for info and it lists the 3 pickups I have mentioned.
And yes it will be a custom built US legacy

Re: G&L Legacy Custom Pickup question
That looks like something that that particular dealer does at their store. My guess is that they are also dealers for Dimarzio and Bare Knuckle, so you can then choose from whatever pickups from those brands you'd like. Unconventional approach, but not a bad idea.

Re: G&L Legacy Custom Pickup question
I think blarg nailed it. Perusing their website indicates they are a Dimarzio and Bare Knuckle dealer. They also look like they have a full service tech department.blargfromouterspace wrote:That looks like something that that particular dealer does at their store. One thing though, their G&L builder (options and models selections) are not up to date. For complete listings of the July 1, 2015 Price List Specs and Options,
check out our G&L Knowledgebase post: July 1, 2015-present G&L U.S. Specifications and Options. These specifications, models and options are what will be used
for any G&L instrument ordered beginning July 1, 2015. There are significant changes to both specifications (mostly neck and fretboard radius changes) and the
variety of neck options including fretboard radius options.
Regarding the CLF-100 G&L pickups in the Legacy, see this post in the G&L Knowledgebase: List of pickups used in G&L guitars.
Hope this helps.
