MSL Live Webinar with G&L

Post by Nubs »

So I sat in on the G&L webinar with Rob Rizzuto & Paul Gagnon earlier tonight. It was really cool to be able to see these guys talk about their passion & get to answer questions from the fans. I was lucky enough to have 2 of my questions asked to Paul & Rob:

1. Are there plans to offer additional colors such as the awesome Sunset Coral?
2. Are there any plans to offer additional left handed Tribute models?

The answer to both of these, in a roundabout way, was yes. They do plan to offer additional colors, however they did not specifically mention the Sunset Coral. Although Ben from MSL did mention to them that the color is getting a lot of love from we fans. Hopefully that puts the bug in their collective ears. And Rob stated they do have plans to offer additional lefty Tribute models. I'm excited to see what they decide to make in lefty Tributes.

Again, I thought it was fantastic these guys were willing to sit down & discuss what makes their guitars so great. You can tell they really love what they do and they appreciate their customers. That type of service and appreciation goes a long way in my book.

Did anyone else sit in on it? What were your impressions?

And we all appreciate the real-guitars-for-real-players ethic @ G&L.
And their fun, hot-rod side too.

And Sunset Coral ! Sunset Coral ! :luv:

Did they mention a time frame as to when any new colors might be released?

I do not recall them saying. They were pretty vague on their answers because they didn't want to give away too much. They also did not want to over-promise and under-deliver.

If I were to guess, I would say perhaps they would have some new colors to offer for next year. But that's strictly a guess on my part with no validity to back it up.

Nevertheless, it is exciting to hear they are looking into releasing new colors for their models.

Come on Sunset Coral!!

I didn't see the live webinar but I did see the videos they posted about Factory tour, Leo's lab, guitar/bass reviews. Overall I thought they were well done. And the guy from MSL sure seems to love G&L.

But I'll go against the grain and admit that I don't find the sunset coral very attractive. Sorry guys :o Hey maybe it looks better in person.

That's just a cool color on anything! :luv: I am thinking about painting my dog, my house and my wife with it. That wouldn't be weird, would it? :cute467:

Of course not...

I have been thinking that Coral might remind some other folk that are as old as I am (a kind of minority, I guess) of that fake-faded-Fiesta-Red that was around in the early '80s, when everyone who thought he was someone and had a Strat got it painted pink, for that "old" association.
But 30 years later, it doesn't seem to have that association at all any more, and just looks really good. And since we've had relic's Fenders for a long time, that fake old red thing's forgotten.
And it looks stunning on an Asat shape. Would also make an amazing-looking bass.

Yeah, they don't seem move very quick on releasing new products so I bet 2016 is a good guess.

Did they mention any new models in the works?

Don't remember them talking about new models. But then again, they might surprise us.

I'm still miffed that at MSL. First off, they sent me photos of my guitar and you could see the clean plastic over the pickguard, when it arrives the pickguard cover has literally hundreds of scratches that luckily didn't go through, I notice it because with my technique I never scratch the pickguard in the first place. Then, they say my only option for a blemished custom order is to send the guitar back for fixing and wait. The rep lied that "no returns" are possible on custom orders even though it clearly states on their website they will do returns minus the non-refundable deposit. So I had to bother the good folks at G&L regardless. Then, they flood ebay with the same guitars on short buy it now listings, the same exact guitar will be listed as new and used in different listings, the rep even clarified that with me. Shady! After my experience I've had other people come out of the woodwork with even worse issues. IMO, having sales through the big box stores plus direct sales from the website would be better than "local" dealers with shady practices. I've built a few parts guitars and have had nothing but great experiences dealing with the better US based builders directly. Can go online, get a price, and order it then call for special requests.

rant over, lol.

Alright jaabs, just breathe & calm down man :)

I get the frustration you have with them. And I agree it is a turnoff when you have to jump through so many hoops to make it right. But they made it right, right?

Oh, G&L did, or "will" for that matter! Didn't sour my G&L love, just having to put up with dealers can be a disappointment.
