Superhawk and Rampage Identical body and neck?

Post by companydamned »

Hi there,

Can someone tell me for sure if the bodies and necks of the USA Superhawks and Rampages are identical? are they the same guitar just with 1 vs 2 pup and khaler vs saddle lock?

Thanks!

No, the Superhawk and Ramage bodies are different. The necks are identical in size and shape.

See these posts in the G&L Knowledgebase: Current G&L Guitar Body Shapes (U.S. models) and
2014-15 G&L U.S. Specifications and Options.

Hope this helps.

wow craig, i never knew the bodies were different. i bought the 'hawk with the assumption it was literally the same guitar with a different bridge and pickup config. hmm, interesting. they look identical. what's the exact difference?

the difference (if not mistaking) is the cut out is deeper on the low e side of the Rampage and not as deep on the Super Hawk , slightly more high fret access

The difference is in the shape of the upper and lower body horns.

This is only true on the U.S. versions. I believe that the Tribute Superhawk models are based upon the Tribute Rampage body. I will clarify the Knowledgebase post to indicate the post is for U.S. body styles only.

Hope this helps.

if that's true I will probably order a Tribute Super Hawk .... I like the Rampage body better if it's like my 86 Rampage , just wish they would offer Impress wood as a option

oh, thanks craig! yeah, i thought they felt the same. i have never played the american rampage/superhawk, so i don't know. come to think of it, i've never played any american G&L guitar..only bass, which I have lol.

to be honest, besides the high price of the american rampage, i went with the tribute because of the pickup...i have the duncan SH4JB in my Parker p-42, and it's not nearly chuggy enough on my JCM. it's too thick for me..i need an OD pedal in front to get it to chug really good.

the stock tribute series pickups are SO hot and chug SO hard without any need of an OD pedal...so when i got the superhawk, i again went for the tribute because i knew what i was getting with tribute pickups.

i used to love duncan pickups, but i guess after the parker i've kinda wanted to move away from them. i'm thinking dimarzio next for the parker..give it some chug!
