2015 specs
Thanks to Craig for the latest factory specs info!
But I can't see the Will Ray model listed. I do hope I'm worrying unnecessarily...

Sorry Nick, but the Will Ray Signature model has been discontinued.NickHorne wrote:Thanks to Craig for the latest factory specs info!

See: Production List of G&L Instruments (USA) for the latest updates.
On a positive note: The neck options have significantly changed; now with 3 different radius options for almost all neck options.
See: July 1, 2015-present US Neck Profile Options

Re: 2015 specs
Looks like I just got mine in time!
I still have my older WR (1 5/8 neck) which was the guitar that first turned me on to G&Ls.
My only wish was for a wider neck, and my new (2014) Z-3 with 1 3/4 neck and WR back pickup + B-bender is the guitar I would take if I could have only one, every time. It is the best I've ever used.
It's a shame it's gone, but I'm really grateful to G&L and WR. I got mine!
The Z-3 is a great thing. CLF kept playing with his P-bass concept on guitar, even way back with the Electric XII, and I do believe he finally nailed it.

Re: 2015 specs
The discontinuation of the Will Ray Signature makes me sad. But I understand it from a business perspective.
Does anybody know whether the Will Ray bridge pup remains to be available? Or is that pup also discontinued? Or does the "standard" Z-3 now have that pup?

Yes, the WR bridge pickup is still available from the G&L On-Line Store. Also, the Tribute WR model is still in production, so the WR bridge pickup will continue to be produced for the Tribute line.yowhatsshakin wrote:The discontinuation of the Will Ray Signature makes me sad. No more Will Ray's? Gotta go find a tourquise version now!
For one of the greatest guitars made, this is a shame.

That's good news about the pickup, Craig. Thank you.
I just panic-bought two spares at the online store, in case mine ever go out! One of the very best back pups ever.

Re: 2015 specs
The 2015 specs says
"Classic Wide C - A full 1/8” wider than the Classic C Plus with added string spacing. "
Shouldn't it say ", plus" instead of "Plus"
Confusing word order, imo.

I believe it should be:Classic Plus C - Just 1/16” wider than the Classic C with added string spacing. A good choice for players with big hands who find 1 5/8” a little too narrow.
1 11/16” nut width, slight edge roll, medium taper from 0.830” to 0.960”. It starts off fairly slim and gets beefier up the neck. These specs were part of the #3 neck.
Classic Wide C - A full 1/8” wider than the Classic C Plus with added string spacing. The extra width is welcome not just for players with big hands,
but those who value more string spacing. 1 3/4” nut width, slight edge roll, medium taper from 0.830” to 0.960”. It starts off fairly slim and gets beefier up the neck.
These specs were part of the #4 neck.

The "C" and "Plus" were accidently transposed. I have changed it on our post in the Knowledgebase and have brought this to Dave's attention, so it can be corrected
on the G&L main Option page.

Re: 2015 specs
Great to see G&L making some significant additions to the list. The new additions to the options list have provided all choices for my ideal ASAT! And down here its tax refund time too! I really like the sound of the new 'Modern Classic' neck profile with its rolled edges - thanks for listening G&L
I agree about the WR model discontinuation being sad, but it had a pretty damn good run for such a distinctive instrument. I'm glad to see that the Legacy/S-500 Deluxe is discontinued - I always thought they were far too posh for an S-type guitar.
Now, do I order the ideal ASAT or wait for a new model SC-2 with ASAT Classic pickups and a saddle lock bridge....

Funny, but this is the first time I ever heard about the discontinuation of the WR model. I'm not surprised, however.Craig wrote: Sorry Nick, but the Will Ray Signature model has been discontinued.

What DOES surprise me is how G&L artists have to find out about such things - on a public forum!
But then again, anyone who has ever tried to communicate with the parent company BBE already knows communication isn't their strong point; Building guitars is.
Oh well, the WR had a good run.

Re: 2015 specs
Guys,
The WR is not available at present, though it doesn't mean we intend to delete it, it just may need to change how we go about handling the builds.
Will, sorry nobody explained this to you.

Re: 2015 specs
Thanks for that, Dave M!
So Will, let's you and the rest of us cheer up a bit; that doesn't sound so bad.
Let's hope G&L see how much love there is for the WR. It's just so good, it can do so many things really well. That back pickup makes the Z-3 perfect.

1/8 wider than the Classic Plus C would make it......13/16 which is larger than 3/4. Wow.
(Ok, who was the marketing person who thought it was a good idea to bring in fractions?
I'm not in marketing, but I do know, no one likes fractions. Fractions puts me to sleep. )
j/k it is a spec sheet.

Re: 2015 specs
Perhaps the clue is in the no 4 neck reference; maybe someone just meant "and" when they wrote "plus"?
