The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

L2500 5-string bass - USA vs Tribute, what is the difference

Post by candleman »

I just picked up a used L2500 bass... (still wiping drool from my shirt...)... LOL...

So what exactly is the difference between the USA model and the Tribute model?

Are the wiring/switches/POTs any different?

----------

And as a first look review...

TONS of tonal options, switches doo-dads and gizmos... love it... (I haven't figured them all out yet, but I have a PDF I downloaded from somewhere that tells me what they all do...). Fit and finish is wayyyyyyy above other name brand maker's overseas guitars.

I'm really a life-long guitar player, but I wanted a cool bass just so "I'd have a bass..."

It would probably sound a lot better if I had a real bass amp to plug it into... A 5-watt class-A guitar combo probably isn't the best for those low tones, haha... (but that's all I got on the road right now).

I know what you were thinking... "this post is worthless without some guitar (bass) porn...

OK, here goes.... pardon the ugly comforter on my motel room bed (yikes...)

First off... for you L2500 players, here's the knob stuff...

I think the wood grain was what started me to drooling and getting a bass woody... LOL...

The wiring is the same, the switches and pots different.
