Belated NGD! ASAT Classic S

Post by WitSok »

Ordered back on March 9th and recieved on May 19th.

ASAT Classic S
Body: Alder, Original Leo Spec (OLS), front and rear contours
Color: Margarita Metallic with 1-ply Black pickguard
Neck: Quartersawn, maple finger board, light tint satin, medium jumbo frets
Head: Color match with model deleted logo. (Actually I hadn't specified model deleted, but that is how it came).
Nut and String Tree: Graphtech
Other: Football plate output jack

Here are a couple shots from the factory that showed up on G&L's facebook page:

Here are some poorer quality pictures with some of it's family members.

Wife said that now I need a red guitar to complete the rainbow (to go along with my daughters purple and yellow guitars). For some reason, I think she was joking...

Hope you enjoy!

I would order that red guitar right now while you can and make her happy !!...lol ...... great looking new ASAT , do you know what it weighs ?? ...... I have one model delete guitar with my Detroit series Fallout , I would not order the model/delete on purpose myself , but it's not a deal-breaker either

Great looking guitar ! Worth the wait. Yes, get the red one. Not a fan of matching headstocks with maple boards HOWEVER, it really works with your guitar. It would seem the model delete is a default option with coloured headstocks ( from what I have noted anyway ). Enjoy your new git.

My first impression was it weighed less than the LE-2, but it is actually just a bit heavier. I measured 7.63 lbs for the ASAT Classic S. The LE-2 was 7.25 lbs. My Tribute ASAT Special Deluxe is extremely light at 6.38 lbs. All three are comfortable to play, but I would say the new ASAT with OLS body and contours is the most comfortable.

The no model name logo wasn't a deal breaker for me either. I think you are right that it has become the default option with painted head stocks. I think every painted head stock I've seen on G&L's Facebook page has model deleted logos. Kind of a shame since the ASAT, Legacy, and Comanche have such nice model logos!

Already looking for some red color opportunities :whome:

Thanks Patrick! I have to admit, Margarita Metallic is probably my favorite standard paint color. I almost went the Margarita on the LE-2, but wasn't sure how I would like it with roasted maple (Bob had that Legacy in Margarita with rosewood fingerboard and it didn't quite click for me). Now I know that I would have loved it in Margarita too, the roasted maple with gloss finish gives it more contrast than the rosewood and would have looked killer too. Anyways, I still think the Lake Placid Blue looks great on my LE-2!

Got to say I'm thrilled with my ASAT Classic S. Great tones, excellent comfort/playability, and killer looks. And my another great experience with Bob at Musicsource.
