Bring back Bahama Blue !

Post by glvourot »

Just going through the knowledge base and came across a colour verification thread for an SC-3. The colour is Bahama Blue. I would order a new G&L if I could get this colour ( ok ok, it would be a saw-off between whiskey and old school tobacco but I digress ) Bring it back ! That is all....

From what I have seen it is more on the navy blue side of the spectrum.

How about linking the thread here so we all can see it?

I actually really like this color! It almost looks like what I believe the original incarnation of midnight blue metallic looked like. Sadly though, they really lightened up that shade of blue. So now it looks more like a royal blue than anything.

I agree they need a very deep, dark shade of blue back in the lineup. Perhaps the shade my bike is which is called midnight pearl would interest them. It looks something like this:

It's tough to photograph, but believe me when I tell you this color is sooooo sexy! This color on a guitar would be most excellent, and not just cuz I think it would be. A shade like this isn't available on other brands of guitars. So G&L would further be unique by offering midnight pearl in their lineup.

Let's do it!

Nubs, I agree with everything you said. I have seen some good pictures of Midnight blue metallic but I think I like the hint of Purple in the Bahama Blue. if a paint store can mix any colour under the sun I hold out hope that G&L can make this available again.

I like this Bahama Blue, too. I've always considered Midnight blue metallic but the "metallic" bit kept me from ever ordering it. The Detroit series has a blue of interest but it's restrained to the #1 neck. Anyway, I like this blue. It would be on my list.

Bahama Blue (which Fred Finisher refers to as Viking Blue) is an interesting finish. Here's my '86 Lynx:

My color vision isn't the greatest, but to me the second pic is closer to how it looks in person. The first pic was probably taken with a flash.

One color that doesn't get mentioned very often but is along these same lines is Cobalt Blue. It was on the color chart for a couple of years in the mid-'90s. I owned a Cobalt Blue ASAT very briefly a couple of years ago. Loved the finish, but knew I wasn't going to bond with the guitar's neck. I haven't seen Cobalt Blue since then, but if I came across it now I would probably end up with serious GAS.

The best way I could describe Cobalt Blue would be to say it was about the same shade as Bahama Blue, but with a very subtle metallic undercoat.

Yes yes yes!! That color is most excellent! Pair that with a white pearloid pickguard & a vintage tint maple neck & fretboard...

Shut up & take my money!
