USA G&L Legacy 3 bolt untinted neck...possibly 1997?

The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

USA G&L Legacy 3 bolt untinted neck...possibly 1997?

Post by jcs »

I just purchased this wonderful guitar in metallic blue.....I think it is a 1997 model with the 3 bolt neck.

I would like to list the serial no. but don't want to list the whole number.

Can anyone tell me what strings were stock on G&L Legacy in 1997?

I think this guitar may have the stock strings.

I assume the guitar can be dated by the pot codes?

I really hesitate to pull the neck just to check the dates.

Anyhow, what a great guitar with a wonderful tone control system & I love the Fulcrum tremolos, realizing they have to be maintained and setup properly.

Thanks Tim.......that is what I did basically.

I see no mention of dating by pot codes, which is commonly done on guitars.

Are the pot codes a reliable indicator of a general build date on G&L instruments?

The 1st four of my serial are: G038

If you don't want to list the full serial number, PM the complete serial number to me and I will ask Dave to get the build history of this guitar.
You can submit your Instrument without publicizing your personal information in the G&L Registry. See the FAQ for the Registry for details.

See this post in the G&L Knowledgebase: What gauge & brand of strings does G&L use on their guitars?.

Dating the instrument from the pot dates can be fairly accurate.
For more info on serial numbers, see: How do I determine an instrument's age?.

We do need proof of existence, so please post photos of your Legacy. Look for the link to the Tutorial on posting photos in this post: Welcome! Read This First.

Hope this helps.
