i have tested my guitar as you can see in the attached video, i write to you because the dealer here in spain replaced my old pickup, but the new one sounds with this horrible "scream"... this is a test with an engl amp but with my hot rod deluxe and my blues junior, it´s the same, not very much gain (50% of the drive knob), the guitar shop told me that all the g&l pickups "scream" and are not designed for overdrives!! and i don´t think so!!! i have plugged a fender standard telecaster with the same amp settings and didn´t scream!!
what can i do? any solutions?? i´m desperate!!!
and one more question...are indonesian pickups the same as usa pickups, my original cables pickup was covered by fabric or something similar meanwhile the new one are not covered, thanks again!! but with this sound i can´t play the guitar!!!
here is the video:

it´s in spanish... but only hear the sound... thanks again!!

Yeah, that isn't normal, or typical. I'd have to the dealer do a warranty repair or replacement.

I don't agree - every ASAT Classic I've had with MFDs would also feed back excessively with even moderate amounts of gain. This same question comes up time and time again and I'm quite surprised it hasn't been addressed.JagInTheBag wrote:Yeah, that isn't normal, or typical. Re: My bridge pickup SCREAMS!!!
thanks for your replies... i think that a little bit of feedback is normal on single coils pickups, but this is not a feedback, is something different, even with my hand on the guitar without playing sounds... i have checked a fender telecaster standard with the same amp settings and it doesn´t "scream"...
i don´t think that g&l make pickups only for clean tones... and as i said before, my drive is not very hard... it´s a pop/rock drive... drive knob at 5 in my HR deluxe...
i don´t know what to do!!! thanks again!! and if you have the same model, could you tell me your point of view? thanks again!

If you search the site using "microphonic" as a keyword , you'll find your not alone.

I think Jag's right - that ain't normal but I'm only familiar with Leo-era MFD's so Jamie could be correct… I'd say tho you have a microphonic pickup.
I haven't looked at Elwood's link but potting it in paraffin wax should cure it as its most likely due to (more than) a few 'loose" windings… but I'd have an experience tech do it as its a bit tricky…
Best of luck getting it resolved.
Cheers,
KF
