Thanks to Boogie Bill

The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

Thanks to Boogie Bill

Post by Smoochimoto »

A little over 2 years ago I purchased a Comanche VI. I had wanted one since I saw the ad copy for the original Comanche back in 1990 (ish). I have to admit the first few months of playing it were a little befuddling. Spent quite a bit of time getting close to the sound I was looking for. THEN...I found Boogie Bill's Comanches for Dummies post. His recommendations were instrumental (sorry, couldn't resist) in applying a systematic approach to getting the sounds I was looking for (mostly from my mind's ear) out of this guitar. Not quite a strat sound, nor a tele sound, not even a p-90ish sound. But more of a stratelebucker sound. Took a bit of trial and error using his suggestions, but I love the way it sounds now, and I liked the way it sounded even when it wasn't what I was necessarily looking for.

Been skulking around the site looking for information on my next purchase (Legacy Special). As I expected I found lots of useful information, and it will arrive Friday. Can't wait to try it out. I now own four G&L's: The Comanche, Legacy Special, ASAT Special, and ASAT III. These guitars are worse than potato chips. Its also a testament to the versatility of these instruments, as on electric I play mostly Jerry Reed, Brent Mason, and Scotty Anderson fingerpicking type instrumentals (or try to anyway). Having found myself responsible for a chemical manufacturing facility with all the accompanying headaches, at least they're cheaper than therapy, and more therapeutic.

At any rate, a huge thanks to Boogie Bill, as well as to Craig for putting the post in the info section. And yes, I will post pictures soon.

OMG!!! Thank you so much for the wonderful compliments! I am so happy you are enjoying your Comanche! You've made my day. (Just wait until you get my invoice for my consulting fees!) :happy0007:

And Katefan is correct, they are worse than potato chips, LOL! I don't want to scare you, but I have eighteen...and I'm thinking about another one!
