#14! Himalayan blue Legacy

Post by gitman001 »

Hi Guys,

It has been far too long.... I lurk every day, but never seem to get a chance to post much. Through a strange series of well timed events this week I have landed my 14th G&L, a 2007 Himalayan Blue Legacy - Gun oil tint neck, vintage style tuners. (Which the previous owner had no idea how to use  ) There have been very few great deals lately in my neck of the woods, this one was just to good to pass up. Here are the pics

Congrats on the Legacy find, seems like the logical compliment to the fullerton red .
I was wondering if you were in the shadows.

Boy ,that charcoal background really makes the guitars pop.

Hey Scott,

Great catch ya got there! :alright: Yep, I understand how busy life gets and things fall by the way side, come round more often. Especially let us know how this beauty plays and sounds.

I agree with Elwood, the wall background does make yer gitars show well. May have to paint my walls that color now.

That's a nice Legacy! I've never seen Himalayan Blue in person. The G&L Builder had me thinking it was much paler. If I ever order a new G&L, I will seriously consider this color.

Scott,
Beautiful Legacy. I just got a Himalayan Bluesboy 90. It's an awesome color. I think your photograph is the closest I've seen that captures that blue.

On your wall photo, what is the color of the semi-hollow ASAT Special, top row, left? Is it ruby red?

Thanks Guys! I'll be rehearsing with her tomorrow night. I have never really used my legacy live as it is a much different animal than the MFD's.. But now that i have 2, I think i should be able to tweak my rig to use the Legacy's all night. :happy0065:

Ken - I took a few more shots this morning with my SLR. The others were shots with my iPhone 6 camera. I tried to use natural light and some different backgrounds. I think the iPhone shots did darken it down somewhat. It is a beautiful color.

LM - Yes, the Semi-Special is Ruby Red

here are the new shots

Ate you sure this is himalayan blue and not lake placid blue ? All the himalayan blue I have seen looks much lighter than that.Maybe it's just the lighting in the picture. Looks a lot like lake placid blue to me though.

Lake Placid Blue is a metallic finish. Himalayan Blue is a solid non-metallic color.
Perhaps these photos will show you the difference.

Hope this helps.

gitman001 -
From the "On the Wall" photo, what is the color of the blue S-style guitar, bottom row, second from the right? Metallic Blue?

A friend of mine had a G&L metallic purple bass with satin frost. The satin frost seemed to take away the "metallic" look. That's an option I've been considering for Metallic Blue, just looking for a sample of it.

Excellent looking Legacy, btw. Himalayan is just plain cool looking.

It reminds me of the old Cobalt Blue finish from the mid '90s, which I wish they would bring back. I've only seen it in person once, on a '94 ASAT that I bought online but couldn't bond with. I hope I find another Cobalt Blue G&L some day. I kind of regret letting that one get away.

Hey Lefty,

Its an s-500 from 95. The finish is clear blue over swamp ash. It has really darkened down nicely over the years :)

Stop it!

I really like it with the rosewood fretboard. This one and gitman's are great looking. I'm sure they're awesome playing as well.

I like blueburst as well. That's a very nice looking ASAT S.

These clear blues are very classy. And the Himalayan blue is very rockin' too.
